Digital Television and Radio

A consortium headed by the BBC has won the 3 licences to broadcast digital terrestrial television in the UK.

In partnership with British SKY Broadcasting and Crown Castle (The transmitter operator) the BBC  provides up to 30 "Free-To-Air" television channels and up to 16 radio stations. Free interactive services are also available.

The new service is called "FREEVIEW" - Nice !!!

Service Started: 30th October 2002

Those wishing to view the services will simply need to buy a set top box at a cost of approximately 50 - 100. No further payment will be necessary. Existing set top box owners will be able to receive the new channel line up.
